The New Jazz Band

If you wish to extend your musical range or would like to play different music, the Jazz Band may be for you! We need more players to help round out our unique ensemble that has been added to the Crossroads of America Scout Band history.

Rehearsal starts at 1:00 pm and lasts until 2:00 pm every Sunday of the Month except on holiday weekends and during the summer months. See our schedule on Yahoo Groups for more information or contact us by email for further information.

The Harvey U. Gill Memorial Scout Dixieland Band

Little is known about the early history of this special group within the Scout Band other than it was one of several groups of the more advanced players and adults who love to play more musical genres than the Scout Band played. Since the sixties, the Dixieland band has been an integral part of many of the band concerts and recently has been performing for small scout gatherings and community gatherings on its own. Since 1968, at least, the Dixieland band has been playing the same ten pieces. But in the 90s, Randy Decker and Tom O'Nan had come up with more selections comprising more original Dixieland music selections to add to their repertoire.

Debbie Wheat was the most recent Director of the Dixieland Band, with Tom O'Nan and Randy Decker being past directors as well. If you know of other past directors, please let us know so that we can add them to this list.

The Dixieland Band had performed at the following venues:

The German Band
